One of my favorite parks in the Eugene, Oregon area is Hendricks Park. This park is unique because there is so much to do. A local favorite is checking out the beautiful botanical garden. However, there is also a loop trail and an outstanding viewpoint. From my point of view, you need to go check out Hendricks Park

Mount Pisgah Arboretum

If you can catch a free day at Mount Pisgah Arboretum, it’s going to be a good day. There are so many overlooks to see at Mount Pisgah. You’ll want to bring your camera along because these are memories you won’t want to forget anytime soon. This is one of our favorite free things to do in Eugene, Oregon.

Eugene Saturday Market

Anytime I can head to a market, I’m there! I think a farmer’s market or any type of market really tells everyone about the feel of the town. While you’re at the market, you will see lots of awesome things for sale. There are a lot of handcrafted items, but this is a market you need to see firsthand, for yourself.

Spencer Butte Trail

After you get a giggle out of the name, you best head to this trail. Spencer Butte Trail is a very popular area in Eugene. It’s family-friendly, but also dog friendly. For those of us who love hiking, Spencer Butte Trail takes us on a 1.7-mile loop trail. Prepare to get exercise, but also experience the beauty of Eugene, Oregon firsthand. Not to mention, this is an even more awesome activity because it’s FREE.

 University of Oregon Tour

EUGENE, OR – MAY 7, 2017: Autzen Stadium on the University of Oregon campus on a sunny morning during the football off-season.

If you’d love to experience the history of Eugene firsthand, participate in one of several tours provided by the University of Oregon. Even if you’re not planning to attend the university in the future, you can still take the tour to explore what it has to offer. The campus is home to unique architecture and rich culture from decades ago. It’s the perfect way to learn more about Eugene and its university. The average tour lasts for roughly 90 minutes. You’ll have a guide available to show you around and provide you with new details on the area.

Museum of Natural and Cultural History

The Museum of Natural and Cultural History is a fantastic place to visit with the family. While there is usually an admission fee, the museum allows guests to visit for free on the first Friday of each month. It’s the perfect time to venture out and check out some of the different exhibits offered at this spacious museum. Not only will you learn about animals that roamed the area centuries ago, but you’ll also get unique details on Native Americans and black history. If you’re ready to explore while learning more for free, this is the spot to visit on the first Friday of the month.

Mount Pisgah

The Mount Pisgah trail is one of several popular trails in Eugene. It stretches for approximately 3.3 miles, giving you plenty of time to walk around and explore. While it’s closed during the winter months for safety reasons, you can spend time on this trail between the months of March and November. You’ll see stunning flowers, trees, shrubs, and more. Feel free to bring your four-legged friend with you on the trail to get some exercise and have some fun. If you’re trying to find fun ways to spend more time outdoors, this is the trail for you.
