Seeing the East Coast is something that everyone needs to do in their lifetime! Visiting Hartford is a fun and educational trip. This is the home of Mark Twain and Daniel Webster (even if they didn't make the freebie list you should make time to see them!). Check out the Hartford Public Library. This is a great way to experience the city and check out the historical library. Whenever we canât find a lot of free things to do in a town, we always check out the library!

Take the time to visit Cedar Hill Cemetery and not only is this free, but itâs great CT history. In fact, you can see Katharine Hepburnâs grave!
Elizabeth Park is a unique park in Hartford that you can visit and see over 15,000 roses blossom! Itâs one of the most historic rose gardens in the USA.
Riverside Park is a place for the whole family from the boat launch to sculptures, rowing docks, and so much more. Itâs hard to find a park that can offer everything, but this park does! Enjoy looking at the pieces of art and natural landscape beauty.

Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch – This large brick arch was built for the 400 Hartford Citizens that died in the Civil War. 20-40 minute free tours are available Thursdays only, noon to 1:30 p.m., May through October.
Center Church and Ancient Burying Ground – Many of Hartford's founders are buried at the Ancient Burial Ground and you are welcome to tour on your own. Center Church offers limited free tours and is know for it's Tiffany Glass Windows.

Museum of Connecticut History – With history and artifacts dating back to 1662, this one is worth a stop to learn about the state.
Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art – You can visit for free during “Happy Hour” an hour before they close.
The New Britain Museum of American Art – They offer free admission on Saturdays from 10 am-noon.
