So if you have been following our recent posts you might have seen that we made a few trips to Lynchburg, Tennessee. Well, 3 to be exact. We loved it! It’s the heart of whiskey country and the town that was built on Jack Daniel’s and completely embraces that fact!
Visit the Heart of Whiskey Country in Lynchburg, Tennessee
The first time we visited Lynchburg, Tennessee we were hooked! The drive from Nashville to Lynchburg was about an hour long but the drive was so pretty!
This is the perfect addition to any Nashville vacation. They have a great Visitors Center to make sure you stop in!
So the biggest attraction by far is the Jack Daniel’s Distillery.
The Jack Daniel’s Distillery is a tour of the facility and is free to the public unless you want the tasting at the end. For that, you need to be 21-years-old and up and it is a paid ticket. Kids are welcome on this tour as well. My kids seemed to love it but not as much as my husband. You get to see everything from the stream that they get the water to make the whiskey….
…. to even how it is bottled. And everything in between.
That day we ate lunch at the Iron Kettle Restaurant. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover here we got some of the best burgers with their secret Jack Daniel’s Sauce YUM!
Then of course we walked Downtown Lynchburg. How can you not when you are in town?
We walked the shops and we did a wine tasting at the Lynchburg Winery. Our favorite was their muscadine wine called Serendipity.
We came back a second time a few weeks later and made reservations at Miss Marry Bobo’s Boarding House for lunch.
This place fills up fast so make sure to call for a reservation. It’s served like a family style meal in the old boarding house.
After lunch, we headed down the street, no joke like 5 buildings, to the Old Moore County Courthouse. This is now a museum.
The Old Lynchburg Jail has a bunch of great history from period pieces to history on the sheriffs that ran the jailhouse.
We, of course, walked downtown again. Then we headed out of town and stopped at the Lynchburg Cake and Candy Company. They have been featured on the Food Network and The View.
The 3rd time we came back to pick up my husband’s barrel that he had been begging me for.
You can grab these at the General Store in the town square, also known as the Barrel Store.
That day we had lunch at The Barrel Hosue BBQ, which had been featured on Destination America’s BBQ Pit Masters.
Their food is well worth the stop! It’s some of the best BBQ we have had in a long time! The Barrel House has some great BBQ sauce as well which they have available for sale. Put this on your “Must do” list when you are in Lynchburg, Tennessee.
The town has many events throughout the year and the Lynchburg Events are very popular. They include a half marathon, frontier day, Christmas in Lynchburg and the most popular being the Jack Daniel’s BBQ and Competition.
