The year was 1823 when this mill came to life. Judge Charles Kellogg built this mill and in 1947 the mill was sold to the Weed Family. Ever since then, the mill has been in this family’s operation. New Hope Mills has been around for over 190 years. Isn’t that incredible!
New Hope Mills stopped grinding their flour here in 1996, they still produce all their own flour, right in Auburn, New York!

The Property
It was so cool to walk around and see the mills! Seeing a piece of history was awesome. Plus, I got to see the process of how they process their products and that’s not something you get to see every day. From what I gather, there aren’t a lot of mills in the USA left. You can actually see all of the historic mills in the USA right here.
New Hope Mills Cafe
It’s only natural that New Hope Mills would have a yummy cafe for everyone to enjoy. Their cafe is truly a testament to their products. I mean, their whole business has been around for nearly 200 years, so you know they’re doing something right. At the cafe, they serve everything from french toast to shakes! I can tell you that just walking into this cafe, it smells delicious and it’s a part of the mill that you’ll want to visit! Oh, and let’s not ignore the fact that breakfast and lunch are served all day.
All the decor items are items that were used at the mill or in the offices at one point or another and they can tell you the history behind many of the items.
The food is just amazing. Above are the candied maple bacon and waffle. One waffle is more then enough it is so thick and the potatoes had a unique and amazing seasoning on them.
